GREAT Men of God

The Heart of a Great Man is the treasure of our very being. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son…” ” In the beginning…God created [everything] and saw that is was good.” The Bible gives us the perfect example of a man and a father. Being the head, being the creator and provider. Bringing forth what we as children need and then planting use right in the middle and simply letting us know it is ours to be who he created us to be- great, majestic, and rulers over all.

God is the perfect father figure, he is consistent, he has every skill, he gives us everything that we need and even the things that we want. He teaches us through discipline and he builds us through training and trials and tests. But in the end we can run into his open arms, joyously screaming, “DADDY, I’m home!”

All my life I have been a very forgiving person. People notice in me I an often take actions done against me in stride and move forward and I only do it because the person’s heart was in the right place. And even the times that their heart was not in the right place or even on the right track, my heart remains in the right place and I forgive them so God can forgive me. I look to my Father God as the modeler and I do a quick heart check to see what Daddy is doing.

I love men. I respect men. I always hope for the best out of men. There have been many disappointments but what outnumbers and outweighs them in my heart are the great men who stand in the gap like my Heavenly Father. THe men who come and love you, that don’t have to, like God didn’t have to. The men who speak life into me and keep me safe and make sure that everything, no matter what, is great. The ones who sacrifice time and money and themselves to be all that we as children need even when we arent aware we need it. The blessings that walk this earth being great men, great leaders, great beacons of light love, when no one’s looking and when there is no recognition to be given. I love you all, genuinely great men of God. We all love you.

Happy Father’s Day and Happy “GREAT MEN” Day!!!

Do You Love IKEA as Much as I Do?

Everyday after work, yes AFTER work, I check my email. ANd usually, I’m pretty good at keeping my inbox groomed. I have folders upon folder to disperse documents in. I also delete the unimportant once and once a week or so I’ll go through and unsubscribe from the “definitely-not-a-virus” emails in my spam just to reduce the email I get. Well….

Lately I have been pretty lazy with my email. And as a result, even on the days i want to tackle it I look at the thousands that have piled up and since my gmail can only view 100 at a time, I decide its not worth it and just scan through themost recent for anything important.

WELL…ENOUGH is ENOUGH and I’m going to take my evening as an inbox cleaning day. SIMPLE, all even dedicated to nothing bu deleting, sifting, sorting and organizing my email. I say evening now, but I;m sure I’ll be done in about an hour…or 15 minutes if I just get delete happy and chuck it ALL!

IT is now 6/4/2014 at 7:03pm EST. I will come back and note when I am finished. 🙂

P. S. About the title…I just got an email FROM IKEA and I had all intent and purpose to write about that but I noticed the hellish number of emails and decided what was MORE important.  LOVE YA!

Are you REALLY sorry?

Today, I took an assessment to figure out which of the 5 Love Languages  I have. (Drum roll please…) My primary Love Language is Quality Time and my secondary is Physical Touch. My #3 Love Language is actually Receiving Gifts which is funny because I actually thought that was going to end up being my primary. I am an absolute sucker for classically romantic gifts like flowers and chocolates and teddy bears.

I know that in my current relationship and in any of my relationships of my past, I have in fact measures how close we are, or are not by the amount of time we spend together and the quality of the time we spend together. For instance, we can go see a movie but are we having dinner later? Are we hanging out before or after? Are we seeing the movie that you want to see everytime we go out, or are you at least asking me what I want to see?

When I go out to eat with a friend, or relative or my boyfriend, if I offer to pay (don’t judge me) because I want to treat you, does it suddenly change your menu choice- to a more expensive entree? In a romantic relationship you make plans with your friends for the weekend as soon as you get a chance to go anywhere and you’ll just throw in some time with me the next day, or am I the priority? As superficial as these examples are, they are the truth. They are my truth. I believe in fairness and the golden rule in any relationship and I do want to know that my significant other will spoil me if and when the opportunity presents itself. To me the primary expression of love I look for, is for my partner to remember and think of me especially when making plans. I see I’m getting too deep for you all, so on to the next….

The second assessment I took was the Apology Language Assessment, where I found out my primary language is Restitution, secondary being Repentance. Which, had I reviewed the possibly options ( which were Expressing Regret, Accepting Responsibility and Requesting Forgiveness) I still I would have chosen these two because they describe my mentality to a tee. If someone does me wrong or I feel they betrayed me, especially in a romantic relationship, simply opening your mouth to say,  “I’m sorry,” means N O T H I N G to me. What I want to know is what comes on the other side of “sorry.” Restitution is making it right, or bringing justice to a situation. For instance, if you eat my food I was looking forward to after a long day of work (my tres leches from Havana’s) go buy it back for me, or make me something similar or better.

Now, my second Apology Language I have is Repentance. For y’all non-church folk, repentance means to turn around or away from an act (usually a sin), habit or lifestyle. In a religious context, if I am repenting for the sin of fornicating, then I am stating that I will N E V E R do it again. I am turning a new leaf and do not intend to do it ever again in my life. For the example I used before, if my boyfriend decided to hang out with his friends when I was looking forward to QT with you, if he says he is sorry, what I am looking for is that when the next weekend comes around, don’t let it happen again. Otherwise his “sorry” meant N O T H I N G, is how I see it.

There is a third assessment to do to find what your Appreciation Language is, which seems to correlate more with the workplace than in personal life. Nonetheless, I don’t have time to do it today but the titles are the same as the love languages. If I had to guess my Appreciation Language it would probably be Receiving Gifts (aka bonuses) and Words of Affirmation. Who doesn’t like an email of praise for your awesomeness going out to your entire department or better yet the entire company?

Well, I will catch you all next time, until then,

The Power of Dreaming up a Dream Board (Vision Board)

I began speaking into my dreams and truly GOD has opened all doors to those dreams and GOALS I had with passion.

I own a 2007 Camry…funny things is I looked back at a Vision Board from 2006 and realized I had my exact car on it. I wanted black seats though, but I DO have the sunroof. And when I got my car, it was like brand new. Just thinking, I need to put a Maserati up there.

But the vision board is not the important part of it….its the Passion! Its the excitement and inherent thrill you feel inside that makes the law of attraction work! If you are affirming but not with passion, it wont work. If you are visualizing without a bright picture, an illumination in the vision I think it wont work. Also If you dont have gratitude for where you are here and now and see it as a stepping stone, you wont get there to what you are seeing.

We’ve been in Orlando for a year…frustrated. Trying to get to school, trying to get an apartment, trying to save more$$, trying, trying, trying. And I sat and prayed wondering,” WHAT…am I doing wrong?” Because I know and hear that what we pay attention to most creates our lives. Well…in efforts to save$ and get what we didn’t have I was upset, angry, feeling broke, feeling POOR, feeling annoyed, feeling hate, feeling, unfairness, feeling like I hate my job, feeling I wasn’t able to do anything.

I’d blog but think, who wants to read this? I’d want to write a book, but say I get stuck, I cant do this. I’d say I want to be involved in church but I don’t have time for that. I’d think I want to live a better life but say, its too hard, its too expensive, its too…EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES!!!!  I thought about the saying, Ask and you shall receive….well what have I asked for? Thats right,  nothing. I have only complained. If anything I was “asking” for more to complain about. I as FOCUSED on the bad and the wrong and annoying and frustrating. Instead, I was missing out on an possibly running away the LOVE, and SUPPORT and HELP I actually need and being pissed all day was literally detering the people and places I need.

AND I have adopted what I call the GRATITUDE LIFESTYLE. I decided that I am going to be grateful for EVERYTHING, good and bad. IF I received advice from a magazine or person, I would take it and lay action to it in a sign that I was grateful for the suggestion and information. I decided that I was going to receive love with love. Responding to people asking me how i am doing by smiling and saying I am doing great today, how about yourself- regardless of their response or lack thereof (you know how corporate rhetorical “hellos” are) I was going to show up to my love with respect and happiness and GOOD NEWS instead of complaints…CREATING the home environment I crave and want!

NO matter how crappy I was doing in my business or not doing anything I want to show up to training and to my prospects happy, xcited, hopeful and grateful for the opportunity, grateful for my people, grateful for the amazing things our team is going to do and with an expectation that I was going to have results even if I didn’t see any in sight.

And so far it has paid off! I have felt lighter in heart. I have been doing better at my J.O.B. I don’t feed into the complaint conversations anymore. I’ve spoken to more people about my business. I’ve ASKED more people about themselves. I’ve turned it around and this has only been about 2 weeks of focusing on this lifestyle of gratitude.

ITs been amazing and I will have more to come and more focused topics..

Repentance- The Need for It Daily.

I have witnessed recently not putting God first and how it can affect your daily walk. I recently had fallen back into a sinful habit of mine and am currently working to repent and remove myself from the atmosphere and spiritual defilement of that sin. I’ve asked for God’s forgiveness.

But I experienced an all-too-familiar space in my life- I felt distant from God. I made excuses, I didn’t tithe as I should have. I haven’t read my Bible, prayed or steadied my thoughts and actions of God. And for that I am very sorry. We are all human and I know I can’t be the only one. I can’t be the only one who has committed sin- knowing it was wrong- going in, meanwhile AND going out. All consciously acting in defiance, knowing it is wrong but feeling a lack of remorse or the old, “God will forgive me idea. You, know! All the lies the enemy plants into your brain and you ride with in the midst of sin. But, thank GOD, now comes conviction.

Now comes the understanding and thoughts and actions behind “making it right” with repenting.  Repenting is stopping a sin and vowing not to willfully commit it again. It is more than saying sorry. It is more than a casual, “it won’t happen again, Daddy.” Its much more than that. Repenting is turning away, being aware of what the sin is that was committed and diligently working to avoid it in the future. Repenting is opening your eyes and it is FLEEING from sin- not a casual step to the side.

Oftentimes we get caught up in the lifestyle of sin and don’t realize it. We can get caught up in the actions of the enemy. Recently I was stuck in a cloud of anger, rage, depression, hopelessness, sadness, stubbornness, hatred, gossip and even intense irritation. But PRAYER  is AMAZING- my GOD is AMAZING. I simply prayed to God to help me, to fix this in my heart. I asked God to soften what I was feeling and let me be a better person in the morning. And I woke up feeling free. I felt like God’s presence was returned. I felt like all was restored.

Yet I remember the enemy lurks. And as soon as that peace rushed over me, the enemy tapped me on my shoulder showing me all that was STILL wrong and unresolved. BUT GOD- with Him I know all things work for my good and even though my situation is not what I want it to be, I am where God has willed me to be, for now. I know God has MUCH MORE in store for me. But, today I sit at my current table tackling and studying for my test and will pass with flying colors- Ihave no choice but to pass the test. See, the awesome thing about God is that we get to keep taking God’s tests until we pass them. So, sisters (and brothers) stay strong in your walk with God. Remember that your HEART is what matters and your behaviors to match. Trust God and lean not on your own understanding.

Be Blessed Fam!

Beginning of my Weight Loss Journey

2 weeks ago I began seriously working toward losing weight. I had been going to Zumba classes on and off and “dieting” for a few months and ended up gaining 15 pounds in the process. When I stepped on the scale to see if reading 300.4 I knew for sure something seriously needed to change. And then it hit me. Years before a coworker of mine at a former job sold Herbalife and several people at work would regularly buy shakes from her. I bought some and I didn’t remember losing weight from the shakes but i do remember my tummy flattened and I felt better. My coworker or the course of 5 months had lost 30 pounds so I knew it was possible but as a distributor she had access to more than just the shakes she was utilizing the entire system and was seeing true success.

Fast forward to 2013 and I took to Google, Instagram and Twitter searching for local Herbalife distributors and found a store about 2 block from my house. So on Friday, November 8th, Jahmel &  I stopped by, had a complimentary aloe water, hot tea and meal replacement shake and immediately purchased the Formula 1Healthy Meal shake mix (Cookies & Cream Flavor) and Protein Drink Mix. Over the first two weeks, we’ve shared the shakes and after 2 weeks, we finally did our weigh ins (that we are supposed to do weekly). I lost 2.4 pounds and 4.5 inches. Jahmel did great and lost 7 pounds and a total of 6.5 inches.

So, on November 22nd, we after our 2 week weigh-in, we purchased more Formula 1 Healthy Meal shake mix since we had finished our first canister, this time opting for Dulce de Leche flavor. I also tried the Mint Chocolate and I LOVED it. We also decided to buy the Herbal Aloe Concentrate- Mango flavor and we also purchased the Herbal Tea Concentrate- Lemon flavor. Our coach also gifted us with a Vanilla Almond Protein Bar to share at breakfast and it was great.  I also had another half a protein bar for my snack and when it was time for lunch I could only stand to eat half because I felt so full. Because they were so tasty I purchased more bars- they also come in Chocolate Peanut and Citrus Lemon Flavors.

In addition to the Herbalife Products, we are also taking Vitamins, gummies to be exact I hate pills so it was totally my idea so Jahmel and I are taking Vitafusion multivitamins we purchased at CVS. He takes the Men’s and I take the Women’s. I also take the Vitafusion B Complex gummies.

I have also been drinking a lot more water and herbal tea at work. I also make time to walk/run on the treadmill and use the arc trainer at work. I love Zumba but my schedule has not allowed me anytime to really attend any of the free classes my job offers.

Thanksgiving Prayer

God, my Father in Heaven,

Thank you. First and foremost,  I thank You for being God, and for Jesus being my Lord and Savior. I also thank you for my life and my health today. I feel blessed to experience another day to love, to enjoy life and another day to trust you to be my God. Also, thank you Father for my family and my friends and their health and prosperity. God I also thank you for blessing me to be a blessing. I recognize that all of my increase and financial gain comes from you and belongs to you and I honor you with my tithe and my offering. God most importantly I thank you for the faith I have in You and answering my prayers for my family members’ and my own faith to grow and depend more and more on You, God. I thank you Father for every time their heads bow and knees hit the floor for Your guidance, for Your peace &  your Love I thank you for Love and the undeserved love I have in my life for you. I thank you Father for Jahmel. I asked you for a man who would love me at my worst and at my best and never have I even genuinely had someone who loves me just because I am me, beside You, God. Its an amazing love and I give all praise to You Heavenly Father. God I also want to thank you for the closing of another beautiful year of life. Through its ups and downs and moves and changes you have blessed me beyond measure. ,Even when I was being a bitter, grumpy, ungrateful mess, you provided and proved me wrong and blessed me right back into gratitude and appreciation. And even when the world wants to make me think its not worth being grateful, I know I am because I serve an amazing God who knows who He is. I jut want to say Thank you. Hallelujah and Thank You again.

Starting 2014 Strong with Goal Setting

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Every New Year’s Day, we all whip out our best aspirations and create our Resolutions. Unfortunately, for most adults its the only time we really DREAM. The real tragedy is that most resolutions fall to the wayside within the first two weeks of the year, never to be thought about again. We want to lose weight, so we buy a gym membership and then make every excuse in the book to not go consistently, even though we purchased a full year’s membership. Or the best, we vow that we will save more money but continue to live paycheck to paycheck, blow our tax returns on crap or continue to spend spend spend, like there’s no tomorrow.  Well whatever your resolutions are, the number one thing we need to do is create a PLAN OF ACTION. You can write goals, create a vision broad and think of all the affirmations in the world to push and motivate you but if there is no PLAN OF ACTION in place, nothing substantial will ever happen.

So, what does a Plan of Action Consist of?

Think of a Plan of Action like a Game Plan for your Life. It is your To-Do List. When you make a goal or a vision for your life, the number one thing to focus on is action because without it, your dreams get demoted to simple wishes. In this 4-part series, we will go over simple ideas which are KEY to your success in finally achieving your New Year’s Resolutions.

So the first thing to do is to Ask yourself: What do I want? What do I value? How do I want to finish off next year? The reason I say finish is because you want to keep the end in mind always. If you cannot see the finished product, then you cannot move because direction is not there. Find your finished product and you can take the steps to get there.

The next thing you need to do is set goals. Great Goals are S.M.A.R.T. Goals. SMART is simple technique to make sure that your goals are effectively designed to engage you and increase the strength of the goal.  Throughout this series, we are going to work with one of my top goals for 2014- Weight Loss. My goal next year is to lose 75 pounds by my next birthday (June 6) so I can take a beach vacation and wear a two-piece bathing suit and to improve my health. I Plan to lose these 75 pounds by using Herbalife, Running &  Zumba primarily.  Now, if I had just written a goal saying I want to lose weight, its not powerful at all. Immediately you can tell the difference in the way a goal is written and the potential it has for someone to stick to it, So lets break this goal down.

S.M.A.R.T. Goals

S- Specific. Your goals must state exactly who, what & where you want to be.   For my weight loss goal, I know the exact number of pounds I want to drop, I know why I want to do it and I know how I will do it (Herbalife, Zumba and general exercise). If you want to save money, there has to be a number in mind. I attended a business seminar in Tampa, FL recently and one of the speakers told everyone to think of a money goal for themselves. Then he added that we should all multiply it by 100 because most people dont think big enough. Now I don’t think you should set a goal of $8.5 Billion (my number) but we all should start somewhere. Whether its your goal weight, your goal savings amount, the specifics of a potential mate, or the exact beach in Hawaii you want to visit, make sure the focus of your goal is specific and tangible.

M- Measurable. Each goal must have a gauge that you can track your progress or value along the way. With my weight loss goal, I have an Herbalife Coach who will track my weight, my BMI Visceral Fat, Body Fat Percentage and my eating habits to make sure I stay on track. Now, you dont ha.ve to have a coach or some overtly constructed measuring stick. The internet has a wealth of charts and tools to help you track your progress. toward achieving your goal.  I am notorious for using Microsoft Word or Excel to create tables and charts to track my progress on goals. I’ve created my own personal bill invoices, weekly trackers for moving, I even created a billing statement for money I had borrowed from someone and detailing it as I paid them back. I get serious with it. As long as you have in mind your specific goal, when you want to achieve it and have broken it down, you can create a Measuring tool for it or find one.

A- Achievable. Each goal must be  something you really feel you can do. It has to be challenging but not a “mission impossible” goal. For example, with my weight loss goal: truthfully, I need to drop a total of 130 pounds according to my personal trainer and doctor. BUT, I know that 6 months is a bit too short of a period of time for me to want to lose 130 pounds. I know it can be done and SOMEONE probably has done it, But that kind of pressure for me, personally, would be overwhelming to the point where I’d want to give up. So I asked myself, “what about 15 pounds a month?” I can do it, because I’ve done it before without even trying. SO that experience will boost my confidence to do it again. The confidence is what make the goal Achievable. So, whether it is something someone you know or have read about as done it or something similar, creating a goal and sticking to it until fruition has a lot to do with your personal confidence in achieving it. If you aren’t confident in the goal, try breaking it down or extending the deadline to make it more feasible if needed. Or, check out the next step to see if it really makes sense for you as a goal.

R-Relevant. Your goals should tie into your core beliefs, where you are in life and where you want to go. This part of your goal is called your “Why”, or your ultimate motivating purpose/reason. It should be made clear. Also, make sure it is relevant to you. Make sure your goal is not something you only kind of want to do, but maybe someone else (spouse, parents, friend, etc) want for you. If you set a goal that doesn’t really speak you your heart, you’ll probably fail at it because its not in line with your vision for yourself. For example, I want to lose weight because I want to be healthy, feel light and free and be more adventurous. I can FEEL the weight on me now. I get winded doing simple things, I SNORE now, and I can’t STAND anyone snoring. So for me, the losing weight is relevant because it’s my health at stake here. My boyfriend on the other hand like me at my current weight. He likes BBWs(big beautiful women) and that I am right now. But its a body. It’s not WHO. And, now since he’s seen pictures of me when I was slimmer , hes on board and working to lose weight himself. The slimmer Monica is who I know I am. I’d feel more myself smaller. And its not about being stick thin. That I could never be. I love curves and I honestly think after I get to about a 12/14 (I’m currently a 22/24) I’m set.

T- Time-bound. Any goal you create MUST have a deadline. If there is no sense of urgency, nothing with happen. Now, some people will want to  set a frame of time like “in six months,”or use a specific date like, “June 6, 2014.” . I honestly would prefer you use a specific date versus a time frame because time frames aren’t as specific. If you say six months your subconscious mind will keep resetting it as, “six months from today.” Which is why people procrastinate.  Have you ever had a homework project or a thesis paper due or an exam and kept thinking I have two weeks to write this paper, or finish this project or study this material, and next thing you know its due tomorrow. So now you’re rushing or even cramming for an assignment. IF you change it a bit and say, for example. Today is January 21st, and my goal is to lost 75 pounds by June 6th. Now your brain calculates, “okay, I’ve got a little over 4 months to get this done.” With a specific time frame your sense of urgency kicks in and you will consciously and subconsciously ensure your own success.

For my current goal, I set a 7 month goal to drop 75 pounds. It’s a tight enough schedule for me to stick with it and real enough that I won’t get overwhelmed with it. So, your homework will be to Create your Top 10 goals and par them down to about 3 or 4 that you really want to focus on.

Thank you,

Monica Nouvelle.
